UAE air defences intercept 9 Iranian ballistic missiles and 33 drones in single day

The United Arab Emirates reported Saturday that its air defence systems intercepted nine ballistic missiles and 33 drones launched from Iran in the course of the day — a total of 42 projectiles, the highest single-day count directed at any Gulf state since the war began February 28. Separate debris from another interception struck the facade of a building in central Dubai, without injury. The Dubai Media Office confirmed the incident was caused by an intercepted Iranian attack. Fujairah, outside the Strait of Hormuz, serves as the export outlet for approximately one million barrels per day of UAE Murban crude oil — about 1% of global demand. Its disruption adds to the cascading economic pressure on global energy markets already stressed by the Hormuz blockade. The 9 ballistic missiles launched against the UAE represent the most intense Iranian ballistic missile employment against a single Gulf state in the conflict.
