Strike hits Bushehr nuclear plant perimeter — security guard killed, no radiation spike

Israel struck near Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant on April 4. The IAEA confirmed one physical protection staff member — an Iranian national — was killed by a projectile fragment, and a building on-site was affected by shockwaves and fragments. Rosatom evacuated a further 198 of its staff on Saturday; IDF officials coordinated with Moscow to secure the safe passage of Russian nationals outside Iran. Rosatom chief Alexei Likhachev told Putin that developments near the plant were 'unfolding in line with the worst-case scenario.' Neither the US nor Israeli militaries claimed responsibility. Russia condemned the strike (see separate diplomatic event). No radiation increase was detected; the main reactor remains intact. This is the fourth targeting of the Bushehr NPP.
