IDF strikes Iranian air defense site in Nowshahr, Mazandaran Province — Caspian coast

·Nowshahr, Mazandaran Province, Iran

The IDF struck an Iranian air defense site in Nowshahr, a city on the Caspian Sea coast in Mazandaran Province. Per ISW-CTP, the strike is part of the campaign to expand Israeli air dominance over Iran; the IDF has destroyed more than 80% of Iran's air defense systems. Nowshahr is Iran's northernmost coastal city and a gateway to the Caspian region.

The Israel Defense Forces struck an Iranian air defense site in Nowshahr, a port city on the Caspian Sea coast in Mazandaran Province, per the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) and Critical Threats Project (CTP) March 30 Special Report. The air defense site is located near the Caspian Sea at the northern edge of Iran's radar and missile coverage. The IDF stated on March 30 that it has destroyed more than 80% of Iran's air defense systems across the country. The Nowshahr strike extends Israeli targeting to northern Iran near the Alborz mountains and Caspian coast — a region with strategic radar sites covering approaches from Russia and Azerbaijan. The degradation of northern Iran's air defenses is directly enabling US B-52 strategic bombers to now fly freely over Iranian territory (confirmed March 31 by Pentagon). Nowshahr also hosts Iran's main Caspian naval base.
