Pakistan quad talks: FM Dar says discussed 'permanent end to war'; China fully supports Islamabad hosting US-Iran talks

·Islamabad, Pakistan

D30 quadrilateral talks concluded: Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt FMs departed Pakistan after reviewing progress on bringing US and Iran to the negotiating table. Earlier: Hormuz reopening proposals forwarded to White House (Egypt Suez-style fees, consortium management); Pakistan FM Dar stated talks discussed "possible ways to bring early and permanent end to war"; China "fully supports" Islamabad as US-Iran talks venue. Pakistan army chief Munir in regular contact with US VP Vance.

The Day 30 quadrilateral talks in Pakistan concluded with initial discussions focused on reopening the Strait of Hormuz to shipping, five Reuters sources familiar with the matter reported. The talks included foreign ministers from Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia meeting with Pakistan. Proposals were forwarded to the White House tied to maritime traffic and Hormuz reopening, including Egypt's proposal for a Suez Canal-style fee structure for vessels transiting the strait. Two Pakistani sources said Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia may form a management consortium to manage oil flows through the waterway and asked Pakistan to participate; a Pakistani source said Islamabad has not been formally asked and will not join. The proposal for a Hormuz management consortium had been discussed with both the US and Iran. Pakistan's army chief General Asim Munir has been in regular contact with US Vice President JD Vance on the broader diplomatic track. Turkey's priority remains a ceasefire; Ankara sees Hormuz safe passage as 'an important confidence-building measure' toward that goal. Egypt and Pakistan FMs did not comment; Saudi government media office and White House did not reply. The Hormuz consortium proposal is the most concrete economic framework to emerge from the Pakistan diplomatic track since the war began.
