Iran calls US 15-point plan 'one-sided and unfair' — sends formal counter-response, awaits Washington reply

·Tehran, Iran

A senior Iranian official told Reuters that Iran found the US 15-point plan 'one-sided and unfair' after review by Khamenei's representative. Iran characterized it as requiring Iran to disarm for vague sanctions relief. Separately, Tasnim reports Iran officially sent its response to the US plan through intermediaries and is now awaiting Washington's reply — indicating an active back-channel exchange despite public hostility to negotiations.

A senior Iranian official told Reuters on 26 March 2026 that Tehran had reviewed the US 15-point war-end proposal, conveyed via Pakistan, and found it 'one-sided and unfair.' The review took place Wednesday night and included senior Iranian officials and the representative of Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei. In brief, the proposal 'suggests that Iran would relinquish its ability to defend itself in exchange for a vague plan to lift sanctions,' the official said. It 'lacks the minimum requirements for success.' The official added that there is 'still no arrangement for negotiations and no plan for talks appears realistic at this stage,' as Turkey and Pakistan try to help 'establish common ground between Iran and the United States and reduce differences.' However the official left a conditional opening: 'a path forward might still be found if realism prevails in Washington.' Pakistan FM Dar had earlier confirmed the US plan was being transmitted, and Egypt FM Abdelatty noted mutual desire for calm on both sides.
