Iranian missile targets Orot Rabin power plant in Hadera — near-miss at Israel's largest power station

Iranian forces fired a missile targeting the Orot Rabin power plant in Hadera, Israel's largest electricity generation facility located on the Mediterranean coast approximately 50 km north of Tel Aviv. Initial Israeli media reports stated the missile impacted a few kilometres away from the plant — a near-miss that avoided direct damage. There was no immediate official confirmation of damage to the plant itself or casualties linked to the strike. Israeli media also reported an explosion in the vicinity of the plant. Orot Rabin has a generating capacity of approximately 2,590 MW, supplying a significant share of Israel's national electricity demand. A successful hit on Orot Rabin would represent by far the most consequential infrastructure strike of the conflict, with potential for nationwide power disruptions. Previous incidents have shown that even debris from intercepted missiles can damage power infrastructure. The attempted targeting of civilian power generation infrastructure is a significant escalatory step — Iran has previously targeted airports (Kuwait) and fuel storage, but this represents the first known attempt to strike a major electricity generation facility.
