Israeli ambassador to US: strikes must degrade Iran until 'no power left' and Iranians can topple the regime
Israel's US ambassador Yechiel Leiter told CNN that the campaign must continue until Iran's regime has 'no power' and the Iranian people can rise up. 'What we have to focus on now is degrading to the point where they have no power left in this regime. Hopefully, that will trigger this combustion point where the people are able to take charge of their own lives.' He compared the expected outcome to the Soviet Union collapse and Romania 1989. 'I think we need boots on the ground but they've got to be Iranian boots, and I think they're coming.' The campaign 'is not going to go on forever,' but ends only when there is 'not an entity in Tehran that's going to threaten the region.'
Actor responses
Ambassador Leiter (CNN): 'We need boots on the ground but they've got to be Iranian boots, and I think they're coming.' Explicitly frames war aim as Iranian regime collapse via military degradation. 'The U.S. and Israel planned this operation together... we will bring this terror regime to its knees.'
No immediate Iranian response to Leiter's regime-change framing. Iran has consistently framed the conflict as external aggression aimed at regime change — Leiter's statement confirms that framing.
