Iranian ballistic missile strikes Arad — 88 injured (10 seriously); shockwave damages multiple city blocks
An Iranian ballistic missile struck the southern Israeli city of Arad on Day 22 (Saturday night), injuring 88 people — 10 seriously. IDF spokesman Roni Kaplan, speaking on scene in Arad, confirmed the figures and said the blast shockwave and debris caused secondary damage to multiple buildings stretching for several blocks. Kaplan: 'We have a direct impact because our air defenses aren't hermetic, although they are some of the best in the world.' The strike was the first direct missile impact in Arad since the war began. Many casualties were hospitalised at Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba. The combined Dimona-Arad casualty count totals 175 hospitalised.
Actor responses
Iranian ballistic missile struck Arad, southern Israel, directly hitting buildings and triggering a mass casualty event. No immediate IRGC claim of targeting the city specifically vs. broader Negev strike pattern. Arad and Dimona both struck the same evening — concentrated Negev fire.
MDA declared mass casualty event; IDF Home Front Command search and rescue forces deployed. Helicopter evacuation of critically wounded activated. IDF continuing strikes on Iran's fire array in response.
