UAE suspends Habshan gas facility ops after missile interception debris — Bab oil field also affected
·Habshan Gas Facility and Bab Oil Field, Abu Dhabi, UAE
Abu Dhabi's Habshan gas facilities and Bab oil field suspended operations after debris from intercepted Iranian missiles caused two incidents. Abu Dhabi Media Office confirmed authorities responded to both sites. UAE condemned Iran's targeting of Habshan as a 'dangerous escalation.' No casualties reported.
Abu Dhabi's Media Office confirmed that 'authorities had responded to incidents at the Habshan gas facilities and at the Bab oil field caused by debris from missile interceptions.' Operations were suspended at both sites as a precaution.
Habshan is one of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company's (ADNOC) major gas processing facilities, located approximately 200km southwest of Abu Dhabi city in the Western Region. Bab oil field is one of the UAE's largest onshore oil fields. The UAE condemned Iran's targeting of Habshan as a 'dangerous escalation.'
The official characterization — 'debris from intercepted missiles' — suggests UAE air defenses successfully engaged the incoming missiles, but the resulting debris caused enough damage or risk to require suspension of operations at both facilities. The UAE had previously been targeted by Iranian drone strikes on Dubai's airport fuel depot (March 16) but this is the first incident affecting onshore gas and oil production facilities in Abu Dhabi's Western Region.
