US Central Command announced on Thursday March 12 that American forces have struck approximately 6,000 targets since the start of the war against Iran. The targets include more than 90 Iranian vessels — around 60 ships and 30 minelaying vessels. This figure directly contradicts Iran deputy foreign minister Takht-Ravanchi's earlier denial that Iran had laid any mines in the Strait of Hormuz: the US has struck 30 Iranian minelayers. The scale — 6,000 targets in 13 days — represents an average of roughly 460 strikes per day, making this among the most intense air campaigns in recent history. The vessel strikes indicate a significant naval component targeting Iranian assets in and around the Strait of Hormuz.
