FBI warned of Iranian drone attack plot against California — UAV launch from vessel off US coast

A pre-war FBI alert warned police departments that Iran could attempt to attack the United States homeland using drones launched from a vessel off the California coast. The alert said Iran "allegedly aspired to conduct a surprise attack using unmanned aerial vehicles from an unidentified vessel off the coast of the United States Homeland, specifically against unspecified targets in California, in the event that the US conducted strikes against Iran." The FBI said it had no additional information beyond the aspiration. California Governor Gavin Newsom sought to downplay the warning: "We've been aware of that information. It's all about a posture of preparedness for worst-case scenarios." No drone attack on US soil has materialized. The threat aligns with Supreme Leader Khamenei's statement on March 12 explicitly threatening US assets and declaring all US bases in the region will be attacked.
