·CENTCOM theater / Pentagon
Pentagon spokesman Parnell: approximately 140 US service members wounded in 10 days of conflict. 'Vast majority' minor; 108 have returned to duty. 8 currently severely injured. Reuters sources say up to 150. First official injury count disclosed — far higher than previously known. Adds to 7 KIA in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed in an emailed statement that approximately 140 US service members have been wounded in the 10 days of conflict with Iran. 'The vast majority of these injuries have been minor, and 108 service members have already returned to duty,' Parnell said. Eight US service members are currently 'severely injured.' Reuters separately reported that as many as 150 US troops have been wounded so far, citing two people familiar with the matter — a figure 'far higher than previously disclosed.' The new injury count adds to the previously confirmed 7 US service members killed in action (in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia) in Iran's retaliatory drone and missile strikes. With 140-150 wounded and 7 killed, total US combat casualties in the Iran war through Day 10 stand at approximately 150-160. The disclosure comes as Congress begins scrutinizing the costs and human toll of the campaign — alongside the $5.6B munitions expenditure in the first two days.
Actor responses
About 140 US service members wounded since the conflict began. Vast majority minor injuries, 108 returned to duty. Eight severely injured. We honor their service and sacrifice.
140+ US military casualties demonstrate Iran defensive response has imposed costs on the aggressor. US forces in our region will continue to face consequences for this illegal war.
