Iran Drones Target Saudi Jawf Region and Shaybah Oil Field — Intercepted; Kharj Attack Kills 2
·Jawf / Shaybah / Kharj, Saudi Arabia
Saudi Defense Ministry: intercepted Iranian drone barrage targeting Jawf region and Shaybah oil field. Separately, overnight attack in Kharj (central Saudi Arabia) killed 2 Bangladeshi nationals and wounded 12. Iran now targeting Saudi oil production infrastructure directly.
The Saudi Defense Ministry announced it had intercepted a barrage of Iranian drones targeting two locations: the northern Jawf region (bordering Jordan/Iraq) and the Shaybah oil field — one of Saudi Arabia's most significant and remote oil production facilities, located deep in the Rub' al Khali desert near the UAE border. Both interceptions were successful with no reported damage to the Shaybah facility. Separately, an overnight attack in Kharj — a city in central Saudi Arabia — killed two Bangladeshi nationals and wounded 12 people, almost all of whom were Bangladeshi. The Shaybah oil field targeting is particularly significant: Shaybah produces approximately 1 million barrels per day and is operated remotely by Saudi Aramco. A successful strike on Shaybah would remove another 1 million bpd from an already severely disrupted global market. The targeting of a field deep in the interior desert — far from the Gulf coast — indicates Iran is using long-range drone systems capable of penetrating Saudi territory beyond its coastal defences. The Kharj attack reflects Iran's pattern of targeting areas hosting US military and civilian support infrastructure.
Actor responses
IRGC targeted Saudi military and energy infrastructure. Shaybah oil field and Jawf region targeted. The Saudi regime bears responsibility for enabling American aggression. Our strikes will continue as long as their territory hosts US forces.
