Iran Strikes Saudi Arabia's Al-Kharj City — 2 Killed, 12 Injured; IRGC Claims Radar Targeting

·Al-Kharj, Saudi Arabia

A projectile falls on a residential location in Saudi Arabia's Al-Kharj city — 2 killed (Indian and Bangladeshi nationals), 12 injured. IRGC had earlier claimed targeting radar systems in Al-Kharj. Gulf ceasefire completely collapsed: Iran is now directly striking Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia's Civil Defense confirmed that two people were killed and 12 injured after a projectile struck a residential location in Al-Kharj city, southeast of Riyadh. The two killed were Indian and Bangladeshi nationals. The IRGC had earlier in the day claimed it was targeting radar systems in locations including Saudi Al-Kharj. The strike on Al-Kharj represents a significant escalation: Saudi Arabia had not been a confirmed direct target of Iranian strikes earlier in the war. The Pezeshkian Gulf ceasefire — which was already in tatters after the Bahraini desalination plant strike and the mass UAE missile and drone barrage — is now definitively over. Iran is attacking Gulf Cooperation Council states including the largest and most powerful: Saudi Arabia, home to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina and the world's largest oil producer. Al-Kharj is a military city — home to a major Saudi airbase (Prince Sultan Air Base, formerly used by US forces) and radar installations. The IRGC framing of the strike as targeting radar systems is designed to claim military rather than civilian targeting. However, the projectile struck a residential area, killing civilian migrant workers. The strike will inflame the Arab League emergency meeting in Cairo and dramatically increase pressure on Saudi Arabia to formally condemn Iran.
