Iran Threatens to Strike Regional Oil Sites if Israel Continues Energy Infrastructure Attacks — '$200 Oil'

·Iran / Gulf region

Iran's central military command spokesman Zolfaghari warns on state TV: if Israel continues striking Iranian energy infrastructure, Iran will target oil sites across the region. 'If you can tolerate oil at more than $200 per barrel, continue this game.' Direct threat to Gulf oil installations. Brent already at $91.

Iran's military issued a direct threat to strike oil sites across the region on Day 9 evening, in response to Israel's Day 8 strikes on Tehran oil storage facilities. Ebrahim Zolfaghari, a spokesman for Iran's central military command, told state TV: 'The governments of Islamic countries are expected to warn the criminal America and the savage Zionist regime of such cowardly, inhumane actions as soon as possible. Otherwise, similar measures will be taken in the region, and if you can tolerate oil at more than $200 per barrel, continue this game.' The threat is aimed directly at Israel's decision to strike Iranian energy infrastructure — the first such strikes on civilian energy assets in the war. Iran is signalling that any expansion of the energy infrastructure campaign will be met with symmetric retaliation against Gulf oil installations. The Gulf states — Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar — host the world's most significant oil production and export infrastructure. A credible Iranian strike on Saudi Aramco facilities or UAE oil export terminals would trigger an immediate global energy crisis. Brent crude is already at $91 with a significant war premium. The $200/barrel threat implies strikes on Abqaiq (Saudi Arabia's largest oil processing facility, processing 7% of world supply), Ras Tanura, or UAE's ADNOC infrastructure. Such strikes would dwarf the 2019 Abqaiq drone attack which temporarily removed 5% of global oil supply. The threat dramatically escalates the economic stakes of the conflict.
