IDF strikes Sidon building on main thoroughfare — 5 killed, 7 wounded, no prior warning

Lebanon's health ministry confirmed at least five people killed and seven wounded on Friday after Israel struck a building on a main thoroughfare in the southern Lebanese city of Sidon. Lebanese state media reported the strike occurred shortly before noon with no prior warning from the IDF. The IDF has not commented on the specific Sidon strike, but Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed in an assessment with senior IDF officers that 'the IDF has reinforced troops inside enemy territory and has now significantly expanded to additional positions it has taken,' and vowed to 'defeat Hezbollah one way or another.' The Sidon strike came as Israeli forces continued operations in southern and eastern Lebanese towns, including Douris in the Bekaa Valley, as well as targeting the southern suburbs of Beirut. At least 72 Lebanese have now been killed since the conflict began Monday.
