Hezbollah rockets strike Deir al Asad injuring 6, drone hits home in Shomrat — part of 40-attack barrage and 165+ rockets near UNIFIL positions
·Northern Israel / Southern Lebanon
Hezbollah continued its sustained rocket and drone campaign against northern Israel on April 5. Rockets struck Deir al Asad, injuring at least six individuals. A Hezbollah drone struck a home in Shomrat, northern Israel. Hezbollah claimed 40 attacks against Israeli targets in a 24-hour period between April 4-5. The IDF reported that Hezbollah has conducted at least 165 rocket attacks that fell inside or near UNIFIL positions in southern Lebanon, exploiting close proximity to UN positions to advance operations against Israel.
Hezbollah's April 5 attacks on Israel included:
1. Deir al Asad: An Israeli journalist reported that Hezbollah rockets struck the Arab-Israeli town of Deir al Asad in the Western Galilee, injuring at least six individuals.
2. Shomrat: Hezbollah drones struck a home in the kibbutz of Shomrat in northern Israel.
3. Broader campaign: Hezbollah claimed 40 attacks against Israeli targets in a 24-hour period between 2 PM ET April 4 and 2 PM ET April 5, including drone and rocket attacks targeting IDF positions and Israeli towns in northern Israel.
4. UNIFIL proximity: The IDF reported that Hezbollah has conducted at least 165 rocket attacks that fell inside or near UNIFIL positions in southern Lebanon. The IDF stated that Hezbollah exploits its close proximity to UNIFIL positions to advance military operations.
Hezbollah also published footage claiming to show FPV drone attacks against an Israeli vehicle and two Merkava tanks on March 25, demonstrating continued use of FPV drones in southern Lebanon combat operations.
The IDF assessment that Hezbollah can sustain 200 launches per day for five additional months indicates the group retains substantial operational capacity, though 'significant cracks' in command and control and declining fighter morale suggest strategic degradation.
