Iranian drone strikes Thuraya Telecommunications building in Sharjah, UAE — no injuries

Sharjah's media office confirmed on March 30 that an administrative building of Thuraya Telecommunications was targeted by a drone launched from Iran. No injuries were reported. Thuraya is a UAE-based satellite communications company that provides satellite phone and data services across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia — including to areas where terrestrial networks are unavailable. The targeting of a satellite telecom building represents an escalation of Iran's Gulf infrastructure campaign to communications infrastructure. Previous UAE strikes targeted industrial and commercial facilities including the Emirates Global Aluminium complex in Abu Dhabi. Sharjah is one of the seven emirates of the UAE and borders Dubai. The strike was the latest in Iran's sustained campaign of drone and missile attacks on Gulf states that have allowed US military presence on their territory.
