IDF kills two senior Hezbollah communications unit commanders in Beirut; dozens of overnight strikes across Lebanon

The IDF announced it killed two top members of Hezbollah's communications unit in an overnight strike in Beirut. The two targets — Ayyoub Hussein Yaacoub and Yasser Mohammad Mubarak — were senior members of the unit responsible for 'maintaining communication continuity' within Hezbollah and overseeing the development, maintenance, and use of communication systems across the group. The IDF noted that Yaacoub previously served in a senior role in Hezbollah's rocket unit and was behind numerous attacks on Israel; Mubarak simultaneously held a position in both the rocket unit and communications unit. Eliminating both in a single strike degrades Hezbollah's command-and-control and communications backbone during the active war. Separately, the IDF announced the Israeli Air Force and Israeli Navy carried out dozens of strikes against Hezbollah sites across Lebanon overnight, including in support of IDF ground troops operating in south Lebanon. Targets included weapon depots, rocket launchers, and buildings used by Hezbollah. The overnight campaign reinforces IDF's pattern of sustained multi-domain operations across Lebanon while simultaneously prosecuting the Iran air campaign.
