Staff Sgt. Ori Greenberg, 21, of the Golani Brigade's Reconnaissance Unit from Petah Tikva, was killed during an exchange of fire with Hezbollah operatives in southern Lebanon at around 2 a.m. on 26 March. He is the third IDF soldier killed since the renewed ground offensive began. Another soldier was lightly wounded. Golani fighters killed several Hezbollah operatives in the clash and continued scanning the area for remaining gunmen.

The IDF announced on 26 March 2026 that Staff Sgt. Ori Greenberg, 21, of the Golani Brigade's Reconnaissance Unit, from Petah Tikva, was killed during an overnight exchange of fire with Hezbollah operatives in southern Lebanon. According to an initial IDF investigation, at approximately 2 a.m., Golani soldiers identified several Hezbollah operatives in their area of operations and engaged them. Greenberg was killed during the exchange and one other soldier was lightly wounded — not requiring hospitalization. The IDF said the Golani soldiers killed several of the Hezbollah operatives and continued scanning the area for remaining fighters. Greenberg is the third IDF soldier killed in Israel's renewed ground offensive in Lebanon, which has seen intense close-quarters fighting in the buffer zone south of the Litani River.
