IDF discloses 12–20 UAVs shot down over Iran — no fighter jets lost, IAF using cheap drones for risky missions
Israeli military officials disclosed that more than 12 but fewer than 20 IDF drones have been shot down over Iran during the war. The IAF has been deliberately using cheaper UAVs for high-risk strike missions in Iran, knowing they are likely to be shot down, to preserve manned aircraft. No Israeli fighter jets have been lost, though pilots have come under anti-aircraft fire multiple times. In at least one case, a cheaper drone 'made it back' to Israel.
