IDF confirms killing of Basij commander Soleimani and intel chief Ahmadi in Tehran tent-camp strike
The IDF confirmed on Day 21 (March 20) that its strike late Monday on a Basij tent camp in Tehran killed three senior Basij leaders: commander Gholamreza Soleimani, his deputy, and — newly confirmed — Ismail Ahmadi, chief of intelligence of the Basij paramilitary force. The Basij had established the tent camp after IDF strikes destroyed many of their fixed headquarters. The strike eliminated the full top tier of Basij operational and intelligence leadership.
Actor responses
US officials welcomed the elimination of Basij commander Gholamreza Soleimani, describing him as a key figure in IRGC internal repression and proxy coordination. CENTCOM confirmed awareness of the overnight strike.
