Airstrike kills Kataeb Hezbollah member in Baghdad vehicle — hours after Embassy helipad hit
An airstrike hit a vehicle in Baghdad on Saturday, killing a member of Kataeb Hezbollah, two Iraqi security sources told AFP. The target was identified as a member of the Iran-backed group, part of the broader Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) structure. The strike occurred hours after a drone hit the US Embassy helipad in the same city. No group has claimed responsibility, but the timing and method — a precision vehicle strike — is consistent with US CENTCOM targeted killing operations that have been conducted throughout the conflict.
Actor responses
The assassination of our brother in Baghdad is a cowardly act of terror. The resistance will respond. Every martyr strengthens our resolve. US and Israeli forces will pay for these crimes.
US forces continue to operate against threats to American personnel and interests across the region. We will not comment on specific operations.
The martyrdom of resistance fighters will not weaken the axis. For every fighter killed, ten more will rise. The resistance in Iraq is unbreakable.
