Iranian missile strikes Eilat — child injured, two others lightly wounded

·Eilat, southern Israel

An Iranian ballistic missile struck Eilat, Israel's southernmost city on the Red Sea, injuring a 12-year-old child in moderate condition and two adults lightly, Magen David Adom confirmed. Jerusalem was also targeted in the same launch wave. The Eilat strike is notable: the city sits at the southern tip of Israel on the Red Sea, far from the main Tehran-to-Israel missile trajectory, suggesting either a different launch vector or an extended-range ballistic missile. It is the first confirmed missile impact causing injuries in Eilat since the war began.

An Iranian ballistic missile struck Eilat on Saturday afternoon, injuring a 12-year-old child in moderate condition and two adults with light injuries, Israel's Magen David Adom emergency service confirmed. Jerusalem was also targeted in the same launch wave, with sirens sounding across the city. Eilat, located at the southern tip of Israel on the Gulf of Aqaba (Red Sea arm), is geographically significant as a missile target. The main Iranian ballistic missile trajectory passes over Iraq, Jordan or Syria toward northern and central Israel. Reaching Eilat in the far south requires either an extended trajectory, a different launch location (potentially Yemeni or Iranian naval assets in the Red Sea region), or a longer-range missile variant. The Eilat hit is the first confirmed ballistic missile impact causing casualties in the city since the war began. Eilat is Israel's primary Red Sea port and tourist resort city. The port handles significant cargo traffic and is Israel's only access to the Red Sea — strategically important for non-Mediterranean trade routes. Iran has continued launching multiple missile waves daily throughout Day 15, with this particular wave reaching from Jerusalem in the center to Eilat in the south — a geographic spread across most of Israel's length. The IDF said it has been focusing strikes on Iranian missile launchers in an attempt to reduce the volume of fire.

Actor responses

IRGCSUPPORTINGCLAIM

IRGC missiles have reached Eilat — Israel's southernmost city and Red Sea port. No location in Israel is beyond our reach. The campaign continues until the aggression against Iran ceases.

IsraelOPPOSINGRESPONSE

Iran has struck a civilian area in Eilat, injuring a child and civilians. This is what Iran's missiles target — our people. We will continue to destroy the launchers responsible for these attacks.

United StatesOPPOSINGRESPONSE

Iran's missile attack that injured a 12-year-old child in Eilat is unconscionable. We stand with Israel. Iran must stop targeting civilian populations.
