Saudi Arabia downs drone approaching embassy district — Kuwait also intercepts Iranian drones

Saudi Arabia's defense ministry confirmed early Thursday March 12 that it had shot down an enemy drone 'while attempting to approach the embassies district,' according to a post on X by a defense ministry spokesperson. Saudi air defenses also intercepted a drone in the eastern part of the country. Separately, Kuwait's ministry of defense reported its air defenses had intercepted several drones. The intercepts demonstrate the geographic breadth of Iran's drone campaign, which now spans from the UAE (Dubai) and Bahrain to Saudi Arabia's diplomatic quarter and Kuwaiti airspace. Iran has been carrying out strikes on oil-rich Gulf countries as part of its strategy to target global energy markets in response to US-Israeli strikes on Iranian territory.
