IDF transfers Golani Brigade to Northern Command — bolstering for expanded Lebanon operations

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Zamir orders Golani Brigade transferred from Southern to Northern Command following fresh situation assessment. IDF: 'will be decided whether to reinforce with additional forces.' Signals ground escalation in Lebanon imminent.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir ordered the Golani Brigade to be transferred from the Southern Command to the Northern Command following a fresh situation assessment on the morning of March 11. 'Subsequently, and in accordance with a situation assessment, it will be decided whether to reinforce with additional forces,' the IDF said. The Golani Brigade is one of the IDF's most storied and experienced infantry units, with extensive combat experience in Lebanon from the 2006 war and subsequent Gaza operations. Its transfer to the Northern Command is a significant indicator of IDF planning for expanded Lebanon ground operations. The move is consistent with the pattern of the past 48 hours: evacuation warnings for Tyre and Sidon, killing of Radwan Force commanders at Rab al-Thalathine, destruction of 70+ Hezbollah launchers, and IDF Chief of Staff's repeated statements about dismantling Hezbollah infrastructure. The Golani Brigade transfer from Southern Command — where it would normally be positioned for Gaza/southern operations — signals the IDF has assessed Lebanon as the active ground front requiring immediate reinforcement.
