IDF: 'isolated failure' allowed 2 Hezbollah missiles to hit Ramle and Beit Shemesh without sirens or interception

·Ramle / Beit Shemesh, Israel

IDF investigation complete: two Hezbollah missiles that struck Israel yesterday evaded both interception and warning sirens due to an 'isolated failure.' Ramle: IDF Home Front HQ daycare damaged, 14 lightly injured. Ela Valley near Beit Shemesh: infrastructure damage, 2 injured. IDF has 'implemented adjustments to strengthen interception capabilities.'

The IDF released the results of its investigation into the two Hezbollah missile strikes that hit Israeli territory yesterday without being intercepted or preceded by warning sirens. An 'isolated failure' in both the interception system (operated by the Israeli Air Force) and the warning system (operated by Home Front Command) allowed the missiles to reach their targets. One missile struck Ramle, damaging a daycare near the IDF Home Front Command headquarters (Rehavam Base) and lightly wounding 14 people. Another hit an open area in the Mateh Yehuda Regional Council near Beit Shemesh, damaging infrastructure and wounding two others. The other missiles in the same Hezbollah salvo were intercepted. Hezbollah claimed to have targeted the Home Front Command HQ and 'a satellite communications station in the Ela Valley near Beit Shemesh.' The IDF said this is 'not a new threat' and that the IAF has intercepted similar threats before. 'Following the investigation, adjustments were implemented to strengthen interception capabilities against similar threats in the northern arena.' The episode is significant: it demonstrates that Hezbollah's precision missile capability can, even if rarely, penetrate Israel's multilayered air defense. The dual failure — both interception and sirens — multiplied the exposure.
