68% of connected American Jews support the US-Israel war — vs 60% of Americans opposed

·United States

JPPI survey: 68% of connected American Jews support the war against Iran, even while concerned about rising antisemitism. 60% of Americans overall oppose the war. Near-total support from conservative Jews; 57% of liberal Jews support; only strong liberals oppose (28%).

A survey by Israel's Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI), conducted last week among 692 American Jews, found that about two-thirds (68%) of 'connected' American Jews support the US-Israel war against Iran, even as they express concern that the war could exacerbate antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiment in the United States. This contrasts with multiple surveys finding about 60% of American voters overall oppose the military action, with support significantly lower among Democrats. Breakdown by political affiliation: near-total support from politically conservative Jews; 57% of 'leaning liberal' Jews support the war; self-identified 'strong liberals' were the only group to oppose it, with only 28% backing it. The JPPI notes its panel reflects 'connected' Jews — fewer intermarried Jews, more denominationally affiliated, more with Israel experience — meaning results may overstate broad American Jewish community support. Nevertheless the partisan shift is notable: even most liberal-leaning Jews back the war, suggesting Israel has maintained Jewish American support despite the Biden-era tensions.
