Israeli Navy Strike on Beirut Hotel Kills Five Top IRGC Quds Force Commanders

The IDF confirmed that five senior IRGC Quds Force commanders were killed in an Israeli Navy strike on a hotel in Beirut. The IDF named them individually: Majid Hassini, a senior financier in the Lebanon Corps responsible for transferring funds from Iran to proxy groups in Lebanon including Hezbollah and Hamas; Ali Reza Bi-Azar, chief of intelligence in the Lebanon Corps; Ahmad Rasouli, chief of intelligence in the Palestine Corps; Hossein Ahmadlou, a lower-ranking intelligence operative in the Lebanon Corps; and Abu Muhammad Ali, Hezbollah's representative in the Palestine Corps. The IDF stated the commanders were 'hiding in a civilian hotel' at the time of the strike. A single strike eliminating five named IRGC Quds Force commanders represents the most significant decapitation of Iran's Lebanon command network of the war. The Lebanon Corps manages Iran's funding, intelligence, and operational relationships with Hezbollah. The Palestine Corps manages IRGC relationships with Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad — both organisations that have been coordinating with Iran since October 7. The strike follows the killing of Daoud Alizadeh (acting Lebanon Corps commander) in Tehran last week, and the earlier killing of Reza Khazaei (Lebanon Corps chief of staff) in Beirut. The Quds Force Lebanon and Palestine Corps have now lost multiple layers of leadership in a single week.
