CENTCOM: Iranian navy effectively neutralized — 17 ships destroyed, zero operational

·Arabian Gulf / Strait of Hormuz

CENTCOM commander Gen. Cooper confirmed that not a single Iranian ship remains underway in the Arabian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, or Gulf of Oman. 17 Iranian naval vessels have been destroyed.

In a video posted to X, CENTCOM commander Gen. Brad Cooper stated: 'Today, there is not a single Iranian ship underway in the Arabian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, or Gulf of Oman.' The US Navy has destroyed 17 Iranian naval vessels since the conflict began on February 28. This represents the near-total elimination of Iran's conventional naval capability in the Persian Gulf. The IRGC had previously claimed strikes on USS Abraham Lincoln, which US officials denied. The destruction of the Iranian navy removes Iran's ability to conduct conventional maritime interdiction, though IRGC fast-attack boats and naval mines remain a threat. The US is now offering to escort commercial shipping through Hormuz.
