CENTCOM statement: "Three U.S. service members have been killed in action and five are seriously wounded as part of Operation Epic Fury. Several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions — and are in the process of being returned to duty. Major combat operations continue and our response effort is ongoing." Two US officials confirmed to NBC News that the attack occurred in Kuwait. The troops were part of an Army sustainment unit based in Kuwait. CENTCOM did not identify the service members, pending notification of next of kin. President Trump, speaking in a video posted to Truth Social: "As one nation, we grieve for the true American patriots who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, even as we continue the righteous mission for which they gave their lives." Trump warned: "We'll do everything possible to prevent more casualties. But America will avenge their deaths and deliver the most punishing blow to the terrorists who have waged war against, basically, civilization." Trump added that "there will likely be more" American casualties before the operation ends. He also called on the IRGC and Iranian military and police "to lay down your arms and receive full immunity or face certain death."
